1946. Foundation of College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Seoul National University 5 Departments(Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geology) were in the Division of Science
1975. Relocation of Campus to Kwanak and Foundation of College of Natural Sciences by dividing the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
1990. Foundation of the Center for Theoretical Physics(CTP) as a Research Center of Excellence funded by KOSEF
1991. Establishment of the Condensed Matter Research Institute(CMRI)
1994. Establishment of divisional system to the College of Natural Sciences
1999. Foundation of the Center for Strongly Correlated Materials Research (CSCMR) as a Research Center of Excellence funded by KOSEF
2000. Start of the School of Physics in part of the Brain Korea 21 (BK21) Program
2006. Merge School of Physics and Division of Astronomy, and Establishment of Department of Physics and Astronomy
