This course will cover topics ranging from Maxwell equations to generation propagation of electromagnetic waves, including aspects of wave optics, for students who have taken 300.214 Electricity and Magnetism. Among the topics to be discussed are : Maxwell equations and the boundary conditions, electric circuits, electromagnetic waves in conductors and dielectrics, reflection and refraction at the interface of two dielectrics, interference and diffraction of light, radiation by oscillating dipoles, Lienard-Wiechert potential, and special relativity of electromagnetic fields.
